March is Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month. While your patients need screening year-round, this month provides a great opportunity to educate your community about colorectal cancer screening and prevention. One of the best ways to engage is online. So AGA created Web and social media tools to help you raise awareness of the need for screening for all individuals age 50 and older. You can find all our tools on our Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month website.
Three quick videos are available to embed on your website, post on social media or play in your waiting room. Topics are:
AGA created a Facebook cover photo about Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month (pictured above), as well as screening fact infographics, that you can use on your practice website, Facebook page and other social media outlets to encourage patients to learn more about CRC screening.
When discussing colorectal cancer on Twitter, use the hashtag #coloncancer. Use #ColonCancerAwarenessMonth to highlight activities in March.
AGA is excited to be partnering with Everyday Health on Tuesday, March 22, at 1 p.m. ET on a Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month Twitter chat. Use the hashtag #HealthTalk to participate in the conversation and follow along.
Friday, March 4, is national Dress in Blue Day. Take a picture of your office staff dressed in blue and tag @AmerGastroAssn in your social media posts or email it to us for posting on our website.
AGA firmly believes that all Americans should have access to lifesaving CRC screenings. The decrease in colorectal cancer deaths is a public health success story. AGA, along with the American Cancer Society and a coalition of colorectal cancer awareness groups, is committed to screen 80 percent of eligible Americans by 2018. This is achievable. Join us in reaching this goal.
